Safety Tax Credits for South Africans

19 Nov 2025 | By

Civil Society SA has launched a formal campaign calling for Safety Tax Credits – a mechanism allowing South Africans to claim tax relief on verified private security expenses.

The logic is simple: medical aid contributions are tax deductible because the state healthcare system cannot cope. The same principle applies to safety. When citizens are forced to fund their own protection due to state failure, the cost should be recognised by the tax system.
